“Move Over” Campaign Continues

The Teller County Sheriff’s Office will continue with their participation in upcoming statewide “Move Over” enforcement campaigns. The next operation is scheduled for later this month. Based on the success of previous statewide operations, “Operation 1C3” will continue over the summer months. The operation is named in honor of Colorado State Patrol Trooper Cody Donahue, who was killed in Douglas County last year when a driver failed to move over on Interstate 25.
During April’s enforcement, a total of 1,034 stops were made by thirty participating law enforcement agencies statewide. A total of 473 ciations were issued for violation of the state’s “move-over” law. In addition, four arrests were made for DUI and another six arrests for driving
under revocation.
During this month’s enforcement campaign, Sheriff’s deputies will again concentrate their efforts on Highways 24 and 67 in Teller County. CDOT electronic message boards will reflect enforcement efforts on those days. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office will again be utilizing social media sites, including Facebook and Twitter, to notify and educate the public on the “Move
Over” law.
